Fishing reports from Playa Zancudo

Tarpon Unswayed on the San Juan River, San Carlos, Nicaragua

Fishing as been very slow in October   For the past few weeks we have unusual sourtherly winds, which close the mouth of Tarpon.  Fish are present all around but do not bite.  It cost a lot to have two or three strike a day???   Well some tarpon to the boat, but we are far from our average day (calculated on more than 400 days of fishing ) which is 10 strikes, 3 Tarpon to the boat.  In my opinion  as tarpon are present all over this is  due to very bad atmospheric condition unusual at this time of the year.  Tropical Storm, strong wind from South, even Hurricane Beta, which recently hit Nicaragua.  Meanwhile we report the usual  good fishing on light tackle for Rainbow bass in nearby Solentiname Archipelago, also for Mojara and bass.

I have no doubt due to the presence of so many tarpon around that tarpon fishing than from beginning  of November  (start of dry season) will be great, same in following months ,  as  we will have the usual weather conditions with wind blowing from north.
