Desiree's dorado
Booked the charter through our Manuel Antonio hotel, the Costa Verde and at the pier were pointed by Nano the administrator to our old dog of a boat, the River Rat. Just a captain named Carlos and no mate. There were certainly much nicer boats and more rounded crews. We were booked for a half day for $425. We got underway about 7:00 and ran for about one hour to around 10-12 miles offshore. We had the lines in 15 minutes when we hooked a wahoo, ahhhh that was fun. Hooked up with 2 dolphin within 1 hr. Desiree worked the female for 10-15 minutes and LOVED it. The second I hooked, male, worked 10 minutes, jumped 5-6 times, spectacular. Then nothing for about an hour fishing up and down a trash line. Moved inshore just off off Manuel Antonio. Circled a couple of large rocks, and Desiree hooked the rooster within a half hour. She fought 10-15 minutes, but she is not in fighting shape, so I helped, of course! Great fish. Circled the rocks for another hour but nothing. We watched another boat circling the same rocks but with those crazy fly-fishermen, they were getting nothing. Called it a day. Over-all good time and would do again, the big business feel is not the best, compared to Puerto Jimenez, but some people prefer. Quepos does have the bigger nicer boats but ??? Gave the Dolphin to the our great waiter at the hotel and had them cook up the Wahoo for us. Six nice size steaks and some special sauce and heaven!!

And rooster
