Fishing reports from Playa Zancudo

2002-07-09

Buenas Dias from Sunny Playa Zancudo!

The big news for this UPDATE is our appointment as an official IGFA weigh station – the first and only one in Costa Rica, and one of the two certified
stations in all of Central America. –  Come on down, catch a record fish, and we’ll get your name into the record books!

Other great news includes our new partnership with the Lookout Inn over on the Osa Peninsula, a great place to spend a few days to explore Costa Rica’s most
incredible tropical forest preserve.
We expect to be able to offer to our fishing clients special combination fishing/jungle excursion packages on an ‘all-inclusive’ basis at unheard of rates. Look for more details in our next UPDATE.

This past week we were pleased to have Bill & Chris McDonald, of ‘Wild Bill’s Sport Fishing Tours from Aledo, Texas drop in for a closer look at all that is
new at Arena Alta, and at Playa Zancudo in general. We think they were very pleasantly surprised with what they saw, and they left reassured that three of
their important clients who are scheduled to fish with us in a couple of weeks will get the very best Costa Rica has to offer.
Bill and Chris really enjoyed their stay at one of our beachfront houses, which served as their base for some local explorations during their week long stay.
Chris seemed especially pleased with the kitchen facilities, and we are indebted to both for a wonderful dinner on their balcony, overlooking Playa Zancudo’s unspoiled beach.
Thanks so much;
we’re looking forward to seeing you back in November!

On the fishing scene – although we are beyond what is considered the ‘peak’ in this region – the action continued ‘hot’. Yellow Fin Tuna have been plentiful,
and anglers in search of Marlin were not disappointed, either.

Inshore, Roosters continue to be the big attraction, and some of the first timers were surprised at the fight these fish put up.

From our reservations desk the word is, that several larger groups are in the process of finalizing reservations for the coming season, with some bookings
taking an entire week out of our ‘still available’ category during the peak season. We suggest that the larger groups best decide on the week they’d like to
come, because from the looks of it, we’ll not be able to guarantee full week commitments for very much longer.
If you are thinking of booking a fishing adventure with us this coming season…….NOW IS THE TIME to get in touch, to guarantee your first choice of dates! Stefan is poised and ready to put your name on the calendar……get his attention at  reservations@costaricasailfish.com

Tight Lines!
