August 2002
Greetings from Zancudo
I hope you like the new format for the Arena Alta Sportfishing Newsletter! As I am sure, you noticed I have included some "sponsors" to our newsletter. I have included these links in response to often asked questions from our guests, Can we get some of that coffee you serve for home?? and We are thinking of touring southern Costa Rica in combination with a fishing trip can you recommend a good guide book? Well the now the answer is yes......
Costa Rican Gold Coffee is the same coffee we serve at the Sushi Bar. Recently the plantation owners of Costa Rican Gold started marketing their coffee on the web. So you can now go directly to the source at get that same cup of coffee that Ever serves up (of course you will have to make it yourself)
The Southern Guide to Costa Rica is the best resource for the traveler I have found . Alexander Del Sol personally visits all of the places he reports on and is very accurate and honest.
NOW Lets Get to the Fish
We have been enjoying some great weather and fishing. We were happy to host newlyweds Ronny and Tiffany Verret from Texas. Ronny and Tiffany were married Saturday at Tiffany’s parents home here in Zancudo. Ronny decided to spend his last day as a bachelor fishing, and fish he did!
After two hours Ronny had tangled with two Sails. His real challenge came when he hooked into an approximately 350 lb. Blue Marlin! Three hours later he had the fish to the boat. An exhausted Ronny noted that Marlin fishing was a lot different than fishing for Catfish on the lake back home! He looked a little concerned when I suggested we go try to hook into another Marlin. Instead we spent the rest of the day chasing tuna. Ronny’s bachelor night dinner was Sushimi and Tuna Steaks.
After a wonderful wedding on the beach and a great reception, the newlyweds headed back out fishing. This time they went inshore fishing with Captain Antonio. And great it was, with roosters, cubera snapper and pompano highlighting the day. I am happy to report that the two newlyweds have discovered a new hobby and will be back next year to celebrate their anniversary and do some more fishing.
Only a few days remaining for the Arena Alta Sportfishing/Lookout Inn Special, and this being labor day weekend in the US, I have decided to extend this special for one more week. This package has received the best ever response from our guests. A major obstacle for our guests has been coming up with the 50% deposit right after summer vacations, so... After taking with Terry at the Lookout Inn we have agreed to accept a $500.00 per person deposit to facilitate matters for our guests. So for those you that want to take advantage of this great offer please send an email at reservations@costaricasailfish.com
