March Report

Well its been another awesome month. March was everything we could of hoped it
to be.I had many clients down fishing in Quepos, Los Suenos, Golfito, Tamarindo,
Samara and the Caribbean for Tarpon.
Rob, Jennifer, and father Doug from Alberta Canada caught 7
sailfish on there first ever trip to Costa Rica and first ever trip Blue Water
fishing. I hosted the trip to assure them a great time and we fished on the
Fishing Machine out of Quepos, Great crew and boat to spend a day with.
Brad Pitt,s and crew enjoyed fishing out of Los Suenos catching
many sails and eating fresh Mai-Mai aboard the R-J boat a 34īpro-line.
They fished for 3 days and caught lots of sails everyday, They stayed in a condo
and Los Suenos and also enjoyed that very much.
Brian Olsen as always had a great trip fishing with captain Bobby
McGuinness out of Golfito on the Cazador they caught sailfish, dorado, snappers
and a little bit of everything. They stayed at The Los Gaviotas resort on the
water in Golfito and had a great time.
Roger and Ginger Stanik were down from Wisconsin for a week
vacationing in Flamingo and spent a day out fishing with Rich on the Game
Fisher2. I hosted the trip with them as as they were hoping to hook up on
a marlin. The day before we hooked up twice on blues but this particular day we
had an awesome day on sails 14 up and 8 for release no marlin up oh well any day
you see a dozen or more sails is a good day. They also enjoyed the great lunch
that Riches wife put together fried chicken and awesome Pasta salad.
Gary Howard and Peter Daigle fished with myself a hosted trip on
the Caribbean side to start out with Captain Eddy Brown 21 Tarpon releases in 2
days on flys awesome. Those new flys I am tying with the 4/0 Gamakatsu hooks are
just deadly. Then we traveled over to the pacific side to fish with Rick Ruhlow
out of Carrillo and caught a dozen or more sails both on fly and bait. Peter got
a 550lb Blue marlin, Yellow fin tuna, striped marlin on fly, Wahoo, dorado were
also on the bite. They enjoyed very much the fresh tuna aboard the boat and also
more tuna cooked to perfection at one of the local restaurants in Samara that
evening. My wife Emma and Danielito joined us all for a great stay at the Tree
house Inn on the beach swimming in the pool and hanging out on the beach. I
highly recommend the Tree House Inn in Samara to any one staying in that area as
it is on the beach a new small hotel only 5 rooms, pool and surrounded by many
fine restaurants.
Over all it was a great month as we raised many Marlin and
released 10 blues and a striped Marlin as well on the fly. I have no Idea
how many sail,s but over a hundred for sure, along with dorado, wahoo, and tuna.
The trip to the Caribbean side and 21 Tarpon just made a great month out of it.
We look forward to a great summer season as well the bite will move to the north
Samara, Tamarindo, Flamingo as Marlin are already showing up in Flamingo. The
south bite in Golfito will kick in and things will be great down there also.
Don,t forget I will be hosting some trip,s to Alaska this
summer for a couple of weeks and have a few slots open if any one would care to
join me for some awesome salmon fishing. Or even in Oregon the 2 months of
September, October. Remember the 55 lb king salmon last season. Please let us
know and we will be glad to take care of ya.
